Onondaga County Sheriff will be the guest speaker at the Town of Manlius Republican Committee's Liberty Club on Thursday morning, June 7th. Sheriff Conway is in the final year of his first term in office and is seeking re-election in November.
The Liberty Club is a fundraising arm of the Manlius Republican Party. It brings government and political leaders as speakers to its members on a quarterly basis. At a meeting of Onondaga County Republican Committee members representing the 50th District of the New York State Senate on Thursday, County Comptroller Bob Antonacci was selected as the Republican candidate to succeed long time Senator John DeFrancisco, who will be retiring at the end of the year. Antonacci had been previously chosen as the candidate of the Independence Party and was designated by the Onondaga County Conservative Party as well. Antonacci will now square off with the Democrat candidate in the fall. Election Day is November 6th.
Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh spoke to the Liberty Club of Manlius on Thursday, April 12th at the Cavalry Club. He is pictured with County Legislator Kevin Holmquist, Manlius Republican Committee Chair Hank Chapman, Town Supervisor Ed Theobald and Liberty Club Chairman Rich Rossetti. The event was the kickoff the 2018 year for the Liberty Club, a fundraising arm of the Town of Manlius Republican Committee that brings leaders from across the community to speak to its members.
Although Walsh is not a Republican, his insight into the challenges he faces at City Hall and the opportunities he sees for cooperation between all levels of government throughout the County was well received.
The next meeting of the Liberty Club is expected to be held sometime in June with Onondaga County Sheriff Gene Conway as the guest speaker. More information on the Liberty Club, including how to join, can be found on the manliusgop.com website.
