Kevin Holmquist Unanimously Nominated for County Leg by Town Committee
The Manlius Republican Committee unanimously nominated Kevin Holmquist as its candidate for Onondaga County Legislator (10th District) when it met last week. Holmquist is a 43-year resident of the town and has served on the Onondaga County Legislature since 2005, where he is vice chair of the Planning & Economic Development Committee, member of the County Facilities Committee, and past chair of the Public Safety Committee.
He takes pride in consistently collaborating with his fellow legislators to reach consensus on important issues to meet the needs of county residents. He is focused on initiatives that reduce the poverty rate, improve infrastructure and boost economic development.
He was one of the authors of what is now the Village Improvement Program. The program provides funds for ongoing enhancements in the villages of Onondaga County. Due to Holmquist’s efforts, the three villages in the town will receive millions of dollars over the next 10 years for projects to improve the quality of life. Holmquist also works in the town as the manager of Key Bank’s Manlius branch and is a member of the Cornell Cooperative Extension Executive Board.
He is step-father to his wife, Yvonne’s five adult children and has one grandson. Holmquist is the only elected official in Onondaga County to have served at the village, town and county levels of government.
"The Town of Manlius is beyond fortunate to have Kevin as its representative in the County Legislature. He has helped to improve the quality of life here in countless ways and we are proud to have him as our nominee in the November election," said Hank Chapman, Chair, Manlius Republican Committee.
